Join author Katie Gilmartin, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, historians from the LGBT Historical Society, and fabulous performance artists on a walking tour of historic Queer bar sites along the famed Barbary Coast. We’ll visit real and fictional 1950s bar locations: swanky bars, dive bars, women-owned bars, and bars that were off limits to servicemen – so every man and woman in uniform paid a visit. Discover how patrons exacted their revenge from abusive cops, enjoy readings from Blackmail, My Love, including a performance based on the legendary drag performer José Sarria, and join the Sisters in a rousing chorus of Sarria’s favorite refrain, “God Save Us Nelly Queens.”
