David Getsy and Julian Carter are co-editors of the forthcoming special issue “Trans-Cultural Production” for the inaugural volume of TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly. Getsy’s research critically engages with the narratives of modern art from the perspectives of derided or ignored alternatives. Carter is a queer theorist and critical historian whose work focuses on normativity, embodiment and the construction of identity. Getsy is the Goldabelle McComb Finn Distinguished Professor of Art History and Chair, Department of Art History, Theory, and Criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Carter is Associate Professor in Critical Studies and Visual & Critical Studies and Chair of Critical Studies at CCA.
